Visual science, time (28/40) The time expended by light traveling towards Earth means that when we look at planets, stars and galaxies, we're actually peering back in time. The light entering our eyes from distant objects set off years, decades or millennia earlier. Due to the finite speed of light we can work out that when you look up at the Sun, you see it as it existed 8 minutes ago!
